The Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) is excited to introduce Explore: DEI Learning Model.
Explore provides learning solutions and supports DEI initiatives and efforts for faculty, staff and learners at Michigan Medicine.
We accomplish this by building strategic partnerships and employing evidence-based research and best practices. The model is comprised of formal and online learning options and engagement activities.
Learning progression begins with our own awareness, followed by practicing what we have learned, then eventually modeling learned inclusive behavior. The modeling domain includes coaching, teaching, mentoring, and project and program initiation.
Explore DEI Learning model features the DEI Certificate Program - an opportunity for all faculty, staff, and learners to engage with core curriculum that is foundational to our mission to transform health care and ensure health care equity. Once participants finish the program requirements, including a closing survey, they will receive a 2020-2021 milestone certificate of completion. The requirements must be completed by the end of the Fiscal Year 2021 (June 30, 2021).
It is important to note that this is not a certification program
We have paid special attention to our core offerings and to what we believe is fundamental to our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, which is furthering our understanding of social determinants of health, health care inequities, and cultural humility. Please expect the content to be fluid, as we are continually identifying learning needs from existing and emerging themes.
